Ring Bearers

Ring Bearer Tips

We’ve all been to weddings at which the cute little ring bearer refused to walk down the aisle. We’ve all heard stories of tuxedo clad children who have climbed all over the altar, played hide-n-seek under the bridal gown, or tried to play the church organ. If these behaviors do not mesh with your vision of your wedding day, here are a few tips to keep your ring bearer from morphing into a little ring terror.
  • Choose An Older Child -Older children understand directions and expectations more easily.
  • Outline Expectations-Be sure to let the child know what he is supposed to do. And don’t forget to tell his parents so that they can work with him at home.
These duties include:
  1. Wearing a tuxedo or other appropriate attire
  2. Walking down the aisle, either with the flower girl or just before her
  3. Carrying a ring pillow with the wedding rings attached (see below)
  4. Remaining quiet and attentive during the ceremony
  5. Offer the rings at the appropriate time during the ceremony
  6. Escorting the flower girl during the wedding recession.
  7. Behaving at the reception
Considerations:

Keep in mind that the ring bearer is really just a little boy; these considerations will go a long way toward preventing disaster.

It is not imperative that the ring bearer match the other men in the wedding party. Choose clothing that is appropriate but not uncomfortable.

Let your ring bearer choose whether he wants to walk with the flower girl or by himself. It really isn’t a big deal.

Give your ring bearer a similar pillow to take home so that he can practice.

If your ring bearer is unable to be quiet and attentive, then seat his parents near the front so that he can return to them once the bride has taken her place beside the groom.

Use surrogate rings on the ring pillow. Have the best man and maid of honor carry the real wedding bands.

Offer babysitting services or other children’s activities at the wedding reception so that you and your adult friends and family can enjoy the celebration.

Keep A Sense of Humor

Your wedding day is about so much more than the ring bearer. If your ring bearer acts up, it will be okay. Remember, that unplanned events sometimes make for the best and funniest memories for you and your friends and family to cherish for a lifetime.

Morgan Street Brewery

Oh the yummy smell of hops! Thank you Samatha for filling in for Vicki at the last minute. The Morgan Street Brewery offers sort of old world charm in the middle of bustling night life.

When booking a rehearsal dinner or reception the Brew Tasting Room is available as a "children's room." The Brew Tasting Room rents for $50.00 and includes space for approximately to 20 children.

The Brew Tasting Room

A children's menu is available and averages around $3.99 per child. Bathrooms are conveniently located outside Brew Room. Additional chairs and tables are available for the Brew Room.

Millennium Hotel St. Louis

Had a wonderful tour and welcome from Kala Petkovich, Catering Sales Manager at the Millennium. Of course my first experience with the Millennium started in the cafe where I had a wonderful lunch while looking a great view of the arch!

A children's menu is available for $15.00 pp. Menu includes several popular options. Staff will be provided to serve and bus dinner.

The Millennium has a few room options for the children. The 2 smaller room options do not have room rental fees. Some of the larger rental options have a minimum rental fee. Starting with the 2 smaller room options; St. Louis West and East and Illinois, then moving into the Grand Ballroom options for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel

The Renaissance Grand is a beautiful hotel. Very elegant! The ballroom on the 20th floor not only host an awesome outside view of downtown St. Louis but provides the eyes with such amazing old world detail. The word Grand sums it up in my opinion.

First of all thank you to Kristin Sanders, CMP Senior Event Manger for the tour. Ok so here's the dishy details on the "Children's Room/space." The children's room rental is included in the pp price of the reception cost. One children's room option is the Boardroom located on the 20th floor (same floor as the grand ballroom) and directly to the left of the elevators once walking into the cocktail area. This space is super close to the wedding action yet tucked away from traffic. Space is limited in this room due to the large conference table. I would put a cap of 15 children and under in this space.

The other options for a children's room would be the Hawthorne and Lucas Rooms. Located on the 21st floor these rooms are also conveniently located to the reception area and larger than the boardroom. Depending on the size of children a wall partitions available. These two spaces are available at no additional charge but are subject to availability due to holiday parties. Both rooms have the availability of renting a TV/DVD contact the Renaissance for details.

A children's menu is not available but the hotel does cook "kid friendly" food. Just ask and they can whip it up. Most often requested is chicken fingers, french fries, and a fruit cup. Special arrangements may be made to allow for outside food to be brought in for the children. Contact the Renaissance for details. Hotel staff will be available just for the children's room by attending and cleaning after meal.

Chase Park Plaza Hotel

I got the opportunity to tour the Chase with my good buddy Tami Heroff with Perfect Day Weddings and Events and wow...what a space! Thank you Megan Kniffen, Catering Sales Manager for the lovely tour. There are a few different options for a "children's room" at the Chase. One option is the Lindell Room down on the lower level on the Lindell Blvd. side.....duh right? The Lindell Room becomes an option for a children's space if the reception is in the Khorassan Ballroom due to it's proximity. Unfortunately I was not able to photograph this space due to a private event but I was able to photograph the lobby just outside the space. This area is so cool because it's kind of tucked away from the hotel masses but still very near the company of others.

Option #2 and #3 is the Plaza as well as the Empire Rooms. Both are are the main level, Kingshighway side. Both rooms layout is very similar with different decor. The Empire room also had a private event so no photographs, however, I was able to photograph the Plaza room.

The Chase does not charge a event rental fee if the food and beverage minimums are met. These minimum's change depending on the space booked. Cribs are available and accessible if needed in the children's space at no cost.

The Chase also offers a Children's Menu. The pp cost is $25.00 plated. Food options include but not limited to; Chicken fingers and fries, PB&J, pizza, or hamburger and fries. Since dinner is plated, servers would accompany us in the children's room and serve them.
